Gas is over $4.00 again. It went from $3.98 to $4.20 overnight. Going to Costco tomorrow hoping to save a few cents per gallon Gas $4.20/gal is $0.70/lb. (gallon weighs 6 lbs)
Cauliflower is only $0.52/lb. Broccoli is $0.99/lb. Sugar is $0.55/lb What do these have to do with each other? Nothing.
Corn syrup is $0.87/lb. (gallon weighs 11.49 lbs)
Milk is $0.28/lb. (gallon weighs 8 lbs depending on type of milk)
Corn is $1.04/lb.
While gas prices are controlled, corn, corn syrup, and milk are subsidized--prices are not aligned with true costs.

The average price of gasoline in the Indianapolis area is now $5.15/gallon. I’m so glad we have a hybrid. I’ll be even more careful now to combine trips and do without or substitute for anything I don’t have. I ordered canning lids from Amazon today.

nbc3mom , we haven't hit $5 per gallon yet, but we're as close as you can get to it - at least in my always-high-priced-gas town. $4.99. Luckily, we still have four of the 5 gallon gas cans filled with gasoline that we paid $3.69 per gallon for last month (after using $1 off per gallon fuel points), so I haven't actually had to pay that for gasoline. Yet. When we were out of town this week, we paid $4.37 per gallon. Which was, at the time, 35 cents per gallon cheaper than in our town. We are pretty much driving the car everywhere - after all the expensive repairs, it's now averaging 40 mpg (up from 38 mpg pre-repairs). I love our truck, but at 23 mpg, it's staying in the garage a lot these days.

I took a heart shaped rock that I found to the cemetery for my granddaughter then went to the library this afternoon before Mass; gas was $4.89. I think they raised it last week then lowered it as a psychological trick. $4.89 looks like a bargain now. 🫤

The price in our town dropped from $4.99 to $4.89. The gas prices I've seen in the Milwaukee area seem to be slightly higher than that (miracle, we're cheaper than somebody). Gas was $4.65 in Fond du Lac, which was the cheapest price we'd seen on the drive down. That's where we'll be filling up tomorrow on the drive home, assuming we don't see another stratospheric rise in gas prices.
Despite the car having almost 200,000 miles on it (compared to the truck's 75,000) - and despite the 95 degree weather the whole way down - we took the car for this trip. It handled the drive and the heat like a dream. Well, after what we spent on car repairs, I'd hope it would. The car's 40 mpg beats the heck out of the truck's 23 mpg. Yes the truck is more comfortable. But with gas prices still hovering around the $5 mark, that 17 extra miles per gallon is HUGE!

Gas dropped from 5.25 to 5.14. This was the perfect day to use my $.30 Kroger fuel points from May. Then I went inside and spent $80 more. Well on my way to $.40 for June. I told DH that the prices keep going up for groceries, but at least we get an advantage in fuel points. If you know me, you will recognize this as sarcasm.

Wisconsin, US dollars, regular gas 10% ethanol, $4.19/gallon. Oh man, I wish we had those gas prices in northern Wisconsin. As of today, nearby gas prices ranged from a low of $4.44 in Three Lakes to $4.56 in Rhinelander - "nearby" meaning within 40 miles or so. Sure, prices are lower than they were last week - or the week before, or the week before that. But no $4.19 anywhere close. I have gas price envy! I'm very thankful for the Kroger Fuel Points program - and the fact that it was double fuel points for almost the entire past month (and still is, until Sunday) and it'll be 4X fuel points this weekend for gift card purchases. Helps level the gas price playing field a bit - and has helped lower our gasoline spending.

susannah, I would hope that northern WI would follow suit, lowering prices as they keep getting lower, hopefully! Regular, US dollars, WI in Waukesha are $3.99/gal now.

$4.24 in Eagle River. It's come down, but nowhere near as much as in other parts of the state. When we had our mini-vacation with friends last week, gas was $3.90 per gallon. Way south of where we live, of course!

Makes me want to cry when I see prices coming down so much more in other parts of the country. I'm lucky to find gas below $5/gallon.

manygoatsnomore , ouch on the high gas prices! Gas prices in the three towns near me range from a low of $3.99 to a high of $4.07. But as I said on another thread, we are NOT buying gas up here. We have full tanks courtesy of filling several 5 gallon gas tanks the last time we got $1 off per gallon courtesy of fuel points. Since we have an additional 90 cents off per gallon - and since we will be going to Costco mid-week to do our monthly stock up - we'll be bringing the empty gas cans and getting gas in that town. Because the cost per gallon at the BP gas station near Costco - a station that accepts fuel points - is $3.68. BIG difference!
