My electric roasters. 2 of the 18 qt ones. Both have non-stick coating which I've scrubbed off after they started peeling. This makes it hard to clean but at least I can be sure my food doesn't have the coating in it. I threw one out. I have one 6 qt roaster, same problem, a non stick finish going bad soon.
I want to use these old ones for processing wax if we need to with the bee hives. Even if we don't I don't want to use them anymore with making fruit puree/jam or thick tomato sauces. I need to find an electric roaster with a stainless steel insert that comes out.
The only thing I've found is a porcelain insert and only with Nesco brand. If I'm missing out because I don't know about an electric roaster with stainless steel insert that is American made if possible, please clue me in. 18 qts or larger, and 6 to 8 qts.

I googled, and saw several electric roasters with removable inserts of enameled steel. Enamel is not the same thing as nonstick coating. Very old roasters for the oven don't loose their enamel, though it can crack if dropped.

This is what I'm finding with enameled steel inserts. www.amazon.com/Oster-Self-Basting-22-Quart-Stainless-CKSTRS23-SB-D/dp/B00CQLJESK?tag=r-ch-epd-20Self-Basting Lid, Enamel-On-Steel Roasting Pan, Removable, Roasting Rack, Oster Ckstrs23-Sb 22-Quart Roaster Oven A review with picture. "5.0 out of 5 stars BUYER BEWARE Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2022 I thought I could depend on a name like Oster but apparently not. I have used this five times to process tomatoes and the finishes come off at and it tastes like it in my food it's a creepy heavy metal taste. I lost an entire 15 lb of tomatoes that I worked hard for in my garden because of this awful metal. I've spoken with a few other people who've had the same problem not only with Oster but with Nesco as well. So now I'm going to throw it away take a loss and learn a lesson. I will never buy another Oster product. This is inexcusable." Most of the roasters have removable roasting pans. I'd be happy to find one I could have confidence in since I use it every year, usually many times. 4-12 times a year.

I don't have a roasting pan, but went to an event recently and they had made pinto beans in one and was intrigued. Made tons of pinto beans for a crowd. Would be helpful in canning.

I haven't found what I want in electric roasters the 18 and 6 qt. I searched out restaurant equipment but haven't found what I want yet. I could consider just a very high quality stainless steel roaster to put in the oven, but picking that up and not spilling it, would worry me. Larger triple ply or 5 ply bottom kettles for on top of the stove are a couple hundred dollars each. I would have no problem buying used but I'm not finding used ones in my area.
We might be using the old roaster for wax, sooner than later now for the frames we clean on the old bee boxes we've acquired.

Rancid. I found that okara (the fiber strained out of soybeans/soybean milk) didn't even keep a year dried in a jar. It went rancid. I'll have to plan to use it faster. The coconut oil I have on hand has not gone rancid. We won't eat it because of the saturated fat, but it works for salves or for using on skin. I always sniff jars or bottles I open.

I was given a hand mattock (?) for weeding (like a hand pickaxe). That was on my tool list.
I need to get another two buckets of composted chicken or cow manure to use in the garden.
It's almost warm enough to start some cooking wine brewing.

It's almost warm enough to start some cooking wine brewing. The hand mattock looks pretty handy! Breaking up dirt with the wide edge would be great for planting.
I'm just running out of the 2 year old nectarine vinegar, which we really loved. Now I'm down to just the AC vinegar, 3 or 4 gallons. That might get me until fall. I'm going to make AC vinegar again, but more of it this year, 2 big buckets.
When you make the cooking wine, are you using grapes? I am still seeing grapes at good prices in some of the stores.

feather, I used the hand mattock in the garden today to get some stubborn weeds out of the area I planted corn. Perfect! I'm thinking of using some frozen wild blackberries I have in the freezer

Our canned goods are in good shape with looking forward to canning tomato products this summer. The veggie bean soup-canned from "your choice" recipe, that is a soup that can use anything from the garden since it is pressure canned, in different combinations, 1/2 solids, 1/2 broth. We really like that soup in the winter.
If we are lucky, the pear and two apple trees are blooming so we may get fruit too. We'll have to stay on top of spraying the trees.
We found a 5 gallon high quality latex exterior in dark blue for $30. So for the next few years, the hives and supers and anything we want to paint for outside will be dark blue.

I looked up when our apple and pear harvest begins in the past. The 10th day of August there were apple and pears falling. These may be apples that are too small, draining tree resources and we collected them for deer hunters. Then the apples and pears continued to grow and they were harvested through August into the end of September. So then spraying the trees happens mostly for about 10 weeks up to 16 weeks. We try to do it every 7-10 days, after rains (we're expecting more rain monday), at night with no winds. We're checking our supply of sevin and a fungicide for the trees.
